Beautifying Transitions

Have you noticed that in nature transitions are infused with beauty? Think about a shore, that ever-dancing point where water meets land… Or a sunset, and how a day surrenders to night in a rhapsody of indigo and lilac. Think about autumn, when death itself is unashamedly ochre and wine… Maybe there is wisdom in intentionally beautifying transitions. Maybe we were always meant to smudge change’s edges, and softly blend its colours with fingers dipped in chocolate, spices and gold.

What could beautify your transition today?
A quiet moment with a cup of tea and a cat purring on your lap?
A square of chocolate slowly melting in your mouth?
Dancing naked in the kitchen?
A massage? A fragrance? Water colours?

Take a deep breath, darling. Pushing is almost never the answer. Rather than dragging your soul kicking and screaming through another change, try softer, try tender, try beauty.

I am a Latin-American author, broadcaster and storyteller. I began writing poems when I was nine years old, hitting with only two fingers the keys of an old green typing machine. My mom treasured those first poems, as if they were Shakespeare’s manuscripts! As I grew, poems turned into stories, stories into articles, and, eventually, articles into books.
