Strong arm

Stronger Than Your Mistakes

I used to think God’s will was like a minefield. One misstep and BOOOMMM everything blew up in pieces. Imagine the pressure to perform, anxiety and risk aversion this view fuelled. But if our mistakes had the power to derail God’s plans, they would be more powerful than God Himself! That is ridiculous! While there are consequences to our decisions, God’s sovereign power means grace gets the final word. Grace puts us back together with gold glue. It curves the narrative arc. It’s spiritual gravity pulling us godward. Breath deeper, grace is much stronger than your mistakes.

I love the way Melodie Beatie describes this, she says “God’s will most often happens in spite of us, not because of us… We do not have to control it or force it. We do not have to walk on eggshells in order to have it happen… We do have a part. We have responsibilities, including caring for ourselves. But we do not have to control God’s will for us. We are being taken care of. We are protected. And the Power caring for and protecting us loves us very much.”

It is SUCH a relief not to carry God’s will on our small shoulders! God is carrying us, not the other way around!

I am a Latin-American author, broadcaster and storyteller. I began writing poems when I was nine years old, hitting with only two fingers the keys of an old green typing machine. My mom treasured those first poems, as if they were Shakespeare’s manuscripts! As I grew, poems turned into stories, stories into articles, and, eventually, articles into books.
